From Wikipedia- "Siberian squill (Scilla siberica), also known as the wood squill or spring beauty, is a small perennial plant native to Siberia." The blue is gorgeous and even if the plant is small the flowers stand out because of the startling color. A real treat in Spring.
Scillas are one of my favourite sights in spring. I am so looking forward to seeing them ... they'll be a while before appearing here!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
ReplyDeleteI second that. They are certainly worth waiting for. I was really quite struck by the color when I first saw one. We do have the reddish purple one too but the blue is small but quite incredible.
Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's pretty blue!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, Its a wonderful bulb because the former owner of the house planted a few here and there. When we first saw the flower we had to get more so we did and planted more here and there but forget each year where we've planted them. So we get a nice surprise when they pop up with that brilliant blue. Thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Dragonstone,
Not many flowers are really blue, blue but this one comes close. Very much worth the trouble to plant and very cheap too.
