Last year we planted different tubers in semi shade and they grew too leggy and fell over. It could be that these were better quality tubers to begin with. It is very satisfying to be able to really have them flourish.
Thanks for stopping by.Kihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05576859749293959381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9695751.post-28608675221957333102007-07-07T08:28:00.000-07:002007-07-07T08:28:00.000-07:00The colours of these dahlias are beautiful ... The petals have interesting markings.

I wouldn't have known from the photo that the last one was so big.

You've obviously done something right for your dahlias this year. It must be a satisfying feeling!katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03979577122006222781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9695751.post-64105142364266019242007-07-04T11:28:00.000-07:002007-07-04T11:28:00.000-07:00Hi Kim,Yeah, I'm surprised they turned out to be s...Hi Kim,
Yeah, I'm surprised they turned out to be so nice too. They were a grab bag assortment at Sams. I expected so, so flowers. I guess I took pictures of the flowers prematurely. They have opened further and are even bigger than in the photos with many more petals. I should update the photos. The last flower in the sequence is about 6-7 " in diameter.Kihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05576859749293959381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9695751.post-30420674219067004572007-07-03T20:41:00.000-07:002007-07-03T20:41:00.000-07:00Common seems like the wrong word to use for your e...Common seems like the wrong word to use for your exotic beauties, Ki. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14395380166485303934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9695751.post-80026943555234362042007-07-03T04:14:00.000-07:002007-07-03T04:14:00.000-07:00Thanks for the website and comment Chris. We've had two year of frustration but this year has been the best so far with more to bloom. We bought a mystery box of assorted dahlias so each one is a surprise. Kinda fun that way.Kihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05576859749293959381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9695751.post-51582814839178830702007-07-02T19:49:00.000-07:002007-07-02T19:49:00.000-07:00Those are some nice flowers, Ki. The best site I know for Dahlias is
Dahlia World

I have to warn you about Dahlia cultivation it can be addicting and frustrating and rewarding!

Cactus flowered Dahlias are my favorite.Digital Flower Pictureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16337750342855333995noreply@blogger.com
