Wordless Wednesday photos of Amanita flavoconia. Since we still have one guest staying with us, I'll take a break from posting the series of Anemones blogs and do a simple photo spread instead.
Hi Vanilla Lotus, I agree they are quite strange. I guess the color and the rough caul looks similar to the rind of some cheese. I like to see mushrooms. I think they're kinda neat. They take on so many forms and colors they can rival some flowers. And they are a surprise because they pop up anywhere. Thanks for stopping by.
What an incredible collection of mushrooms - the photographs show their textures so clearly. I will come back and enjoy seeing them throughout the winter months!
Hi Kate, These mushrooms are all from a single colony I saw three years ago. The original colony died out this year but these mushrooms appeared across a paved driveway so I assume the spores from the original must have been transported there. It's interesting to track something for three years and surprisingly, these mushrooms for all their seeming fragility has proven to be quite reliable, fruiting in mid autumn.
mushrooms have to be the weirdest plant to me. I have an old book on many types of mushrooms. They always remind me of cheese for some reason.
