Hi Bobbie,
Thank you. Yes, it is a Cardinal flower, Lobelia cardinalis a native plant. Its cousin Lobelia siphilitica, the Great Blue Lobelia is also pictured 9 photos down.

It sometimes surprises me in the throes of winter when looking over the pictures I took during the blooming season, plants I don't remember taking photos of. I guess getting old has its advantages. I get to enjoy them again in mid-winter. Thanks for your kind comment. ;)
