Unusual snow flakes

It was very cold yesterday when it snowed. It started out with small pebbly grains and ended later in the day with platelike, scaly snow I have rarely seen. When I took the dog out for the evening walk, the snow, reflecting street lights, sparkled like facets of a diamond - very beautiful.

I wonder what the Eskimos who supposedly have dozens of words for snow would name this kind of snow.

I did a Google search for - Eskimo word for snow - and found that they don't actually have any more words than the English language has for snow like, sleet, slush, powder etc. It is a long standing myth, a factoid that has gained veracity by being repeatedly mentioned in the media. Here's an article that debunks the myth.
