What a difference a day makes!

Well maybe more like a day and a half. We got socked here in central NJ by 3-4 inches of granular sleet which formed a rock hard crust. The poor crocuses and hyacinth are in extremis.

Gotta Garden,
Not a chance. Temps in the 20's during the evening and only about 40 with not a cloud in the sky during the day. Trouble is, the sleet is so thick and heavy it takes a while to melt and not at all in the shade. At least the forecast for next weekend is supposed to be in the high 60's and even 70's.

Oh, your poor hyacinths! Mine are just starting to come up, and we got hit with the snow too (I'm in MI). Ugh. I am so sick of snow!

Hi Colleen,
Unfortunately we got mostly sleet that hardened into concrete. Snow I can live with but ice, sleet and freezing rain, yuck. I don't think the flowers on the hyacinth will amount to much. This is a legacy plant which was here when we bought the home and we're not too partial with the Easter egg pastel colors of hyacinths, threating to dig them out so it's not much of a loss in my mind though now it will be unsightly.
