Aquilegia McKenna (McKana) hybrid?

Columbines cont'd.

This is probably a McKenna (McKana) hybrid columbine or one of the songbird series although they may be one and the same using different nomeclature. The flowers are pretty and fairly upward facing with white inner parts contrasting with the colorful petals. Almost a little too pretty for my taste but useful in a drab corner. It goes especially well with rocks or boulders showing off it's alpine heritage.

I had to comment on this too. I think it is a lovely flower but than again I have never met a Columbine I didn't like (except for 'Lime Frost' maybe). I usually end up treating my Cloumbines as biennials, only one of ten makes to the third year.

Interesting about 'bines being biennials. I guess ours have self seeded because they keep coming up in the same place for about 4-5 years now. Haven't had to replant any.

I don't care too much for "Nora Barlow" which reminds me of a miniature dahlia with weird greenish white and reddish purple petals.
