Mostly Asiatic lilies and a few day lilies

I don't know where we bought these weird mottled lilies but they're blooming now. I looked through some of last years photos and didn't see these lilies and we have not planted any new ones this year so did they mutate?

The daylilies have been extremely slow to bloom. Only three are blooming now and we have at least 10 others but they seem to be just producing the flower shoots now.

Nice! I like that mottled flower especially. My daylillies are coming along slowly, too....I figured our lack of rain may be the culprit.

What a nice assortment, Ki - I used to have dozens of Asiatic lilies in IL, and loved the broad spectrum of color they covered. We've had tons of rain, but my daylilies bloomed later than in other years, too - so according to the experiences of Lisa and me, you're probably on time for 2007!

Did someone say...daylilies??! I have to join this party! I'm so happy your daylilies are starting to bloom! Isn't that grand!

Do your mottled lilies, by any chance, have mottled leaves, too?

Hi Lisa,
The mottled one is weird but nice. Since we finally got two days of rain - almost 3"- the plants have revived and the daylilies have more open flowers so I think you were right about them needing moisture to bloom.

Hey Annie,
I shouldn't complain about the slow blooming daylilies. It prolongs the time for the flowering. We really should redo the lilies and get some really nice varieties, especially some of the great smelling oriental trumpet ones but I seem to have a lack of enthusiasm for that. Difficult to get rid of things that are so willing to bloom.

I feel like a pauper with my offering compared to the daylilies in your collection Gotta Garden. The mottled lilies have the regular green leaves. I don't know where we got those but I suspect it was at Sams...you know 25 bulbs for $8.99 special. I do have some nicer varieties of daylilies which have yet to bloom so I'll post more photos as they come into bloom. I think they are mostly the Siloam varieties.
