More columbines in the landscape

I swear I have a photo of Columbine 'Nora Barlow', my least favorite of all but I can't seem to find it. It's sort of greenish mauvish with petals stuck together forming points. Arrggh, my photo album is a mess so this is a good time to sort it out but what a drag. Instead I've posted a more pleasant photo of 'bines, bleeding heart, camellia and a rhodie hiding the ugly air conditioning unit.

Are the Nora Barlow so very unattractive? They look great in the catalogs so I was planning on ordering seed. I adore columbine and have several varieties already. All widely separated, of course, to prevent hybridization.

Jenn and Darcy, It was by pure luck that we hit upon a nice combination. We were mostly in such a rush to fill in ugly areas that we just planted willy nilly and hoped for the best. Sometimes it worked!

Oldroses, I really don't care for Nora Barlow. It doesn't have the pure colors of the other 'bines and it looks very different. The color is off putting for me. If you're looking for a conversation piece or to complete a collection then I would go for it. Who knows, you may really like it. As an aside, I don't see that you include yourself in 'Voices'. I really think you should. It's not as if you are tooting your own horn after all the work you've done. And you've really introduced me to many wonderful blogs I never would have come across on my own. Thanks.

Hi gotta garden. Thanks but again it was dumb luck. Usually I'm not really fond of pink but it works in this arrangement. I hope Spring comes soon this year but not until I've pruned the shrubs and trees! I think I better get started soon. Thanks for stopping by.
